Why they’ll send over some workers from the FAA of course! We all know doctors go through 10+ years of schooling simply because they want to help people out of the kindness of their heart. They don’t want profit, ObamaCare can tell them they won’t get fully reimbursed and they’ll just take it because they are just good people.

But seriously, if Cash for Clunkers isn’t a quintessential example of government bureaucracy failure in our time, what is? We already have impending insolvency in Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid. Cash for Clunkers is insolvent after less than a month, and it is over a thousand times smaller than ObamaCare. If you can ignore the facts that it doesn’t even put “green cars” out or does not get people to buy American or promptly reimburse dealers, then ya its a great program. But who can ignore that?

This is good news as it opens more eyes to why we shouldn’t pass ObamaCare.

2 months ago today, Obama went negative for the first time in the Rasmussen Approval Index. And there he has stayed for the last 2 months. This is right about when the Health Care debate really picked up. There hadn’t been a harder push for such a dead end policy in our history. He is doing the job republicans could only dream of doing to him. It’s not that the people have woken up and seen this man who who he really is, it’s that they don’t see him for who he said he was. But you have to give them credit, It only took 7 months for them to realise who Obama wasn’t but it took North Carolina 3 years to realise congress is run by democrats,

“According to the live caller poll of 600 North Carolina voters, 77 percent of respondents correctly identified the Democratic Party as currently controlling Congress. This marks a significant improvement since Civitas last asked an identical question in July 2008, when only 51 percent of voters correctly identified the Democrats as in charge of Congress.”

Obamanomics isn’t passing by these people as effective governing. He missed the 8% unemployment with porkulus, he underestimated the cash for clunkers 1 billion, his budget deficit projections have now increased to $9 trillion from $7 trillion. There is no confidence in this scarecrow, his chickens are coming home to roost. He not only underestimated us, he blatantly ridiculed us.

Obama is now at 45% in Zogby, let everyone know who is running our nation into the ground the democrats and Obama.

A bit curious of how some British view our health care debate, you can find how they feel about their own care. Daniel Hannon has been vocally passionate extensively on FoxNEWS. And there has been a twittergasm of people “saved” by NHS, they would not be alive if it was not for Britains socialized medicine. But I assure you the dead cannot twit.

Andrew Alexander writes:

It is thanks to the skill of particular doctors, surgeons and their nursing teams if you have been cured of a perilous disease. And probably thanks also to drugs developed by those profit-seeking drug firms which the Left regularly denounces.
Such episodes rarely tell you much about the system itself – unless it involves a distressing delay. Then you can envy other nations’ arrangements with shorter waiting lists.

The cost to the country of the NHS, since you ask, works out at about £2,000 a head, though difficulties arise through our simplistic way of accounting. If you tell a family man with two children that he pays about £8,000 a year for the NHS, he will be taken aback.

There already is an assumption propagated by the left that this will cost us nothing! How preposterous is that? The bill makes economic sense if you are a 5 year old who messed up the door on his lego house, so he has to wreck the whole thing to fix the one issue.

And now there’s talks of co-op’s, is Obama throwing fecal matter to the wall and seeing what sticks? It doesn’t matter, it still reeks of a terrible plan that they want to ram down our throats in an attempt to squeeze out the private sector innovation that has driven not just our country into medical prosperity, but the world.

Go ahead throw poop at our faces, see how we react.

This week, I’ve been traveling across our country to discuss health insurance reform and to hear directly from folks like you – your questions, your concerns, and your stories.

Of course you heard people like me, but did you actually listen and consider the opinions of those you didn’t plant in your audience?

Now, I know there’s been a lot of attention paid to some of the town hall meetings that are going on around the country, especially those where tempers have flared. You know how TV loves a ruckus. But what you haven’t seen – because it’s not as exciting – are the many constructive meetings going on all over the country where Americans are airing their hopes and concerns about this very important issue.

Or because the only non-ruckus events that have occurred are the ones you hold because of your plants effectively shielding yourself from real criticisms. Or maybe the meetings held by republicans have been more civilized?

I’ve been holding some of my own, and the stories I’ve heard have really underscored why I believe so strongly that health insurance reform is a challenge we can’t ignore. They’re stories like Lori Hitchcock’s, who I met in New Hampshire this week. Lori’s got a pre-existing condition, so no insurance company will cover her. She’s self-employed, and in this economy, she can’t find a job that offers health care, so she’s been uninsured for two years.

From HealthInsuranceInfo.net:

If you are a small employer buying a fully insured small group health plan, you cannot be turned down because of the health status, age, or any factor that might predict the use of health services of those in your group. All fully insured health plans for small employers must be sold on a guaranteed issue basis.

Self explanatory? Obama flat out lies about pre-existing conditions. Also its noteworthy to show that Lori Hitchcock runs a tech staffing business that employs at least 14 people [that spoke.com could find], and was a member of the steering committee for the Kerry-Edwards Campaign in 2004

Or they’re stories like Katie Gibson’s, who I met in Montana. When Katie tried to change insurance companies, she was sure to list her pre-existing conditions on the application and even called her new company to confirm she’d be covered. Two months later, she was dropped – after she’d already gone off her other insurance.

First of all, a pregnant woman cannot go to a grocery store and expect to get half her food for free purely because she is expecting a second mouth to feed. The same thing applies to insurance, you are assessed for your risk, and expecting a healthy persons price is preposterous! And doing a little research she did find another company first that wanted a higher premium to cover her.
Secondly, insurance companies can’t drop you when you get sick. From her story “Finally she turned to the Montana state Insurance Commissioner’s office, which in 2007 found wrongdoing by the insurance firm.” So instead of essentially forcing insurance companies to give away free product, why not penalize them, increase the penalties, and educate the people about their rights under insurance plans? Must be too logical for the elitist to understand.

These are the stories that aren’t being told – stories of a health care system that works better for the insurance industry than it does for the American people. And that’s why we’re going to pass health insurance reform that finally holds the insurance companies accountable.

Entertaining thought from my least favorite source wikipedia: Story can mean: Soap opera, in older and/or rural American slang, usually said in the plural. That’s exactly what these are, the cases that fall through the cracks, dug up by the Obama camp and then exaggerated to instill emotional stress for these people and anger against the insurance companies. This bates those that disagree with reform into arguments of us wanting these people to suffer, as Reagan said “That’s ridiculous, and of course no one has advocated it.”

But now’s the hard part. Because the history is clear – every time we come close to passing health insurance reform, the special interests with a stake in the status quo use their influence and political allies to scare and mislead the American people.

Obama is like the little boy that refuses to understand that the circle block doesn’t fit into the star hole. History is clear, Medicare and Medicaid have failed, government is not a business, the people don’t want this. We have a special interest in this, a very personal special interest. Our quality of life is under attack.
If you twist the circle around or jam it in the star, it will fit. That’s exactly his plan. He is the one scaring and misleading the people.

As an example, let’s look at one of the scarier-sounding and more ridiculous rumors out there – that so-called “death panels” would decide whether senior citizens get to live or die. That rumor began with the distortion of one idea in a Congressional bill that would allow Medicare to cover voluntary visits with your doctor to discuss your end-of-life care – if and only if you decide to have those visits. It had nothing to do with putting government in control of your decisions; in fact, it would give you all the information you need – if you want it – to put you in control of your decisions. When a conservative Republican Senator who has long-fought for even more far-reaching proposals found out how folks were twisting the idea, he called their misrepresentation, and I quote, “nuts.”

The bill is funded by cuts in medicare, is that not death panel enough? The real death panel was in the stimulus bill, the ObamaCare bill just provides another vehicle to administer the deaths.

Some Obamedication for you “If there’s a blue pill and a red pill, and the blue pill is half the price of the red pill and works just as well, why not pay half price for the thing that’s going to make you well?” It’s a good thing Obamedication is how the world works. $30,000 to chop off a foot. Noone needs a legitimate tonsillectomy. Sometimes the cheaper pill isn’t the best pill, what will the government do then? What happens when the blue pill isn’t working, do you deny them coverage of the red pill because of your cost cutting? You can’t answer that question because it reveals your true agenda, “Death Panels”.

So when folks with a stake in the status quo keep inventing these boogeymen in an effort to scare people, it’s disappointing, but it’s not surprising. We’ve seen it before. When President Roosevelt was working to create Social Security, opponents warned it would open the door to “federal snooping” and force Americans to wear dog tags. When President Kennedy and President Johnson were working to create Medicare, opponents warned of “socialized medicine.” Sound familiar? Not only were those fears never realized, but more importantly, those programs have saved the lives of tens of millions of seniors, the disabled, and the disadvantaged.

Status quo as in who runs the executive, legislative, and judicial branches? The same failed philosophy of socialism they are now trying to disguise as capitalism? Arrogantly thinking they can do it better. Hitler would have been their hero if it wasn’t for that whole you know, genocide mishap. We’re not quite as bad, we’re only putting together deal panels to put a value on peoples lives.

Those who would stand in the way of reform will say almost anything to scare you about the cost of action. But they won’t say much about the cost of inaction. If you’re worried about rationed care, higher costs, denied coverage, or bureaucrats getting between you and your doctor, then you should know that’s what’s happening right now. In the past three years, over 12 million Americans were discriminated against by insurance companies due to a preexisting condition, or saw their coverage denied or dropped just when they got sick and needed it most. Americans whose jobs and health care are secure today just don’t know if they’ll be next to join the 14,000 who lose their health insurance every single day. And if we don’t act, average family premiums will keep rising to more than $22,000 within a decade.

Is it discrimination if I lie to the insurance companies about my smoking habits? Or any past medical history? Where does this 12 million number come from? How are the insurance companies supposed to combat fraud? Stop pulling these numbers out of your ass. Stop demonizing insurance companies. Stop lying about how your plan rations care, makes our country bankrupt instead of the individual, slowly nibbling away at our freedoms. Give the people some responsibility, you can’t be our mother forever dear Bama, cut the umbilical cord.

On the other hand, here’s what reform will mean for you.

First, no matter what you’ve heard, if you like your doctor or health care plan, you can keep it. If you don’t have insurance, you’ll finally be able to afford insurance. And everyone will have the security and stability that’s missing today.

How will I keep my doctor when he decides its not worth his 12 years of school to only be told by you what prices he can charge and have a maximum wage he can make? I’m sure the new blood will go to Obamedication school and we get a bunch of nitwits that don’t even know what Ibuprofen is like in britain.

Insurance companies will be prohibited from denying you coverage because of your medical history, dropping your coverage if you get sick, or watering down your coverage when it counts – because there’s no point in having health insurance if it’s not there when you need it.

Insurance companies will no longer be able to place some arbitrary cap on the amount of coverage you can receive in a given year or lifetime, and we will place a limit on how much you can be charged for out-of-pocket expenses – because no one in America should go broke just because they get sick.

They already are mandated to not drop you when you get sick, they need to protect themselves against fraud. If you don’t fill out an application right, or disclose you’re whole medical history you can be dropped for a reason. If it smells like fish it typically is fish, people lie. And why am I not allowed to go bankrupt? It’s creative destruction, people need to take responsibility for their actions, learn from mistakes, and most importantly be able to take risks. Without any of that there is no American Dream. You no longer protect people from their enemies you protect them from themselves, a dire path to the end of American exceptionalism as we know it.

Finally, we’ll require insurance companies to cover routine checkups and preventive care, like mammograms and colonoscopies – because there’s no reason we shouldn’t be saving lives and dollars by catching diseases like breast cancer and prostate cancer on the front end.

Why should insurance cover maintenance? My car insurance does not cover maintenance, hell my factory warranty doesn’t cover maintenance. Maybe you could use that peanut between your two ears and think of something creative like taking out preventative care from insurance, and add an incentive for lower premiums if you do take the necessary steps to go to the doctor twice a year.

That’s what reform means. For all the chatter and the noise out there, what every American needs to know is this: If you don’t have health insurance, you will finally have quality, affordable options once we pass reform. If you do have health insurance, we will make sure that no insurance company or government bureaucrat gets between you and the care that you need. And we will deliver this in a fiscally responsible way.

I know there’s plenty of real concern and skepticism out there. I know that in a time of economic upheaval, the idea of change can be unsettling, and I know that there are folks who believe that government should have no role at all in solving our problems. These are legitimate differences worthy of the real discussion that America deserves – one where we lower our voices, listen to one another, and talk about differences that really exist. Because while there may be disagreements over how to go about it, there is widespread agreement on the urgent need to reform a broken system and finally hold insurance companies accountable.

Nearly fifty years ago, in the midst of the noisy early battles to create what would become Medicare, President Kennedy said, “I refuse to see us live on the accomplishments of another generation. I refuse to see this country, and all of us, shrink from these struggles which are our responsibility in our time.” Now it falls to us to meet the challenges of our time. And if we can come together, and listen to one another; I believe, as I always have, that we will rise to this moment, we will build something better for our children, and we will secure America’s future in this new century.

Translation: I refuse to let you live peacefully on your own, take responsibility for your own lives, and I must tell you what to do and how to do it. Oh and insurance companies are weeny heads.

His words are so timeless, you would think this is written for today.

1961 – My name is Ronald Reagan. I have been asked to talk on several subjects that have to do with the problems of the day. It must seem presumptuous to some of you that a member of my profession would stand here and attempt to talk to anyone on serious problems that face the nation and the world. It would be strange if it were otherwise. Most of us in Hollywood are very well aware of the concept or the misconception that many people, our fellow citizens, have about people in show business. It was only a generation ago that people of my profession couldn’t be buried in the churchyard. Of course the world has improved since then, we can be buried now. As a matter of fact, the eagerness of somebody to perform that service gets frightening at times. Now back in 1927 an American socialist, Norman Thomas, six times candidate for president on the Socialist Party ticket, said the American people would never vote for socialism. But he said under the name of liberalism the American people will adopt every fragment of the socialist program. There are many ways in which our government has invaded the precincts of private citizens, the method of earning a living. Our government is in business to the extent of owing more than 19,000 businesses covering 47 different lines of activity. This amounts to a fifth of the total industrial capacity of the United States. But at the moment I’d like to talk about another way, because this threat is with us and at the moment is more imminent. One of the traditional methods of imposing statism or socialism on a people has been by way of medicine. It’s very easy to disguise a medical program as a humanitarian project. Most people are a little reluctant to oppose anything that suggests medical care for people who possibly can’t afford it. Now, the American people, if you put it to them about socialized medicine and gave them a chance to choose, would unhesitatingly vote against it. We had an example of this. Under the Truman administration it was proposed that we have a compulsory health insurance program for all people in the United States, and, of course, the American people unhesitatingly rejected this. So, with the American people on record as not wanting socialized medicine, Congressman Furan introduced the Furan Bill. This was the idea that all people of Social Security should be brought under a program of compulsory health insurance. Now this would not only be our senior citizens, this would be the dependents and those who are disabled. This would be young people if they are dependents of someone eligible for Social Security. Now Congressman Furan brought the program out on that idea of just for that particular group of people. But Congressman Furan was subscribing to this foot in the door philosophy because he said, “If we can only break through and get our foot inside the door, then we can expand the program after that.” Walter Ruether said, “It’s no secret that the United Automobile Workers is officially on record as backing a program of national health insurance.” And by national health insurance he meant socialized medicine for every American. Well let’s see what the Socialists themselves had to say about it. They say, “Once the Furan Bill is passed this nation will be provided with a mechanism for socialized medicine capable of indefinite expansion in every direction until it includes the entire population.” Well, we can’t say that we haven’t been warned. Now Congressman Furan is no longer a Congressman of the United States Government. He has been replaced, not in his particular assignment but in his backing of such a bill by Congressman King of California. It is presented in the idea of a great emergency that millions of our senior citizens are unable to provide needed medical care. But this ignores the fact that in the last decade 127 million of our citizens, in just ten years, have come under the protection of some kind of privately owned or hospital insurance. Now the advocates of this bill when you try to oppose it challenge you on an emotional basis, they say what would you do, throw these poor old people out to die with no medical attention? That’s ridiculous, and of course no one has advocated it. As a matter of fact, in the last session of Congress a bill was adopted known as the Kerr/Mills Bill. Now without even allowing this bill to be tried to see if it works they have introduced this King Bill, which is really the Furan Bill. What is the Kerr/Mills Bill? It is a frank recognition of the medical need or problem of our senior citizens that I have mentioned. And it has provided from the federal government money to the states and local communities that can be used at the discretion of the state to help those people who need it. Now what reason could the other people have for backing a bill which says we insist on compulsory health insurance for senior citizens on a basis of age alone, regardless of whether they are worth millions of dollars, whether they have an income, whether they’re protected by their own insurance, whether they have savings. I think we can be excused for believing, that as ex-Congressman Furan said, “This was simply an excuse to bring about what they wanted all the time, socialized medicine.” James Madison in 1788, speaking to the Virginia Convention said, “Since the general civilization of mankind I believe there are more instances of the abridgement of the freedom of the people by gradual and silent encroachment of those in power than by violent and sudden usurpations.” They want to attach this bill to Social Security, and they say here is a great insurance program now instituted now working. Let’s take a look at social security itself. Again, very few of us disagree with the original premise that there should be some form of savings that would keep destitution from following unemployment by reason of death, disability or old age. And to this end, social security was adopted, but it was never intended to supplant private savings, private insurance, pension programs of unions and industries. Now in our country under our free enterprise system we have seen medicine reach the greatest heights that it has in any country in the world. Today, the relationship between patient and doctor in this country is something to be envied any place. The privacy, the care that is given to a person, the right to chose a doctor, the right to go from one doctor to the other. But let’s also look from the other side, at the freedom the doctor loses. A doctor would be reluctant to say this. Well, like you, I am only a patient, so I can say it in his behalf. The doctor begins to lose freedoms; it’s like telling a lie, and one leads to another. First you decide that the doctor can have so many patients. They are equally divided among the various doctors by the government. But then the doctors aren’t equally divided geographically, so a doctor decides he wants to practice in one town and the government has to say to him you can’t live in that town, they already have enough doctors. You have to go some place else. And from here it is only a short step to dictating where he will go. This is a freedom that I wonder whether any of us have the right to take from any human being. I know how I’d feel if you fellow citizens decided that to be an actor I had to become a government employee and work in a national theater. Take it into your own occupation or that of your husband. All of us can see what happens once you establish the precedent that the government can determine a man’s working place and his working methods, determine his employment. From here it is a short step to all the rest of socialism, to determining his pay and pretty soon your son won’t decide when he’s in school where he will go or what he will do for a living. He will wait for the government to tell him where he will go to work and what he will do. In this country of ours took place the greatest revolution that has ever taken place in worlds history, the only true revolution. Every other revolution simply exchanged one set of rulers for another. But here for the first time in all the thousands of years of man’s relation to man, a little group of men, the founding fathers, for the first time established the idea that you and I had within ourselves the God-given right and ability to determine our own destiny. This freedom was built into our government with safeguards. We talk democracy today, and strangely we let democracy begin to assume the aspect of majority rule is all that is needed. Well majority rule is a fine aspect of democracy provided there are guarantees written in to our government concerning the rights of the individual and of the minorities. What can we do about this? Well, you and I can do a great deal. We can write to our congressmen and our senators. We can say right now that we want no further encroachment on these individual liberties and freedoms. And at the moment, the key issue is, we do not want socialized medicine. Now you may think that when I say write to the Congressman or Senator that this is like writing fan mail to a television program, it isn’t. In Washington today 40,000 letters, less than one hundred per Congressman are evidence of a trend in public thinking. Former Representative Halleck of Indiana has said, “When the American people want something from Congress, regardless of its political complexion, if they make their wants known, Congress does what the people want.” So write, it’s as simple as finding just the name of your Congressman, or your Senator. Then you address your letter to that individuals name, if he’s a Congressman, to the House Office Building, Washington D.C. If he’s a Senator, to the Senate Office Building, Washington D.C. And if this man writes back to you and tells you that he or she too is for free enterprise, that we have these great services and so forth, that must be performed by government, don’t let them get away with it. Show that you have not been convinced. Write a letter right back and tell them that you believe in government economy and fiscal responsibility; that you know that governments don’t tax to get the money the need; governments will always find a need for the money they get and that you demand the continuation of our traditional free enterprise system. You and I can do this. The only way we can do it is by writing to our congressmen even we believe that he is on our side to begin with. Write to strengthen his hand. Give him the ability to stand before his colleagues in Congress and say “I have heard from my constituents and this is what they want.” Write those letters now; call your friends and them to write them. If you don’t, this program I promise you, will pass just as surely as the sun will come up tomorrow, and behind it will come other federal programs that will invade every area of freedom as we have known it in this country. Until, one day, as Normal Thomas said we will awake to find that we have socialism. And if you don’t do this and if I don’t do it, one of these days you and I are going to spend our sunset years telling our children and our children’s children, what it once was like in America when men were free.

Something I noticed when attending a town hall on Monday, the congressman was condescending. With a sadistic smile on his face, he would drag the argument all over the map. Bringing in partisan politics, shamelessly blaming one party or the other. Often Refering to his rhetoric, “I have not decided how I will vote”, “I won’t vote for a plan that does X, X, X, and doesn’t X, X, X”. But when it was clearly explained to him verbatim by constituents that brought various forms of the bill, he would move the goal post saying its not in the senate bill or its not in the one of the congress bills. Or even flat out saying it does not say what you just said! He is going to vote for the bill and he did not want us to know that.
Most of the town halls are being run like this. They claim to be listening to you, then continue to try to indoctrinate you on how spectacular and revolutionary this plan is. They are not listening. The sound is bouncing off their ears, repelled by the socialistic mentality of their ideologic diva queen minds.

CALL THEM OUT.
Don’t argue numbers.

You sir/ma’am, stand in front of your employers with that smug smile pretentiously vocalizing how you think you know we should live. Falsely claiming a more benevolent view of the world, smearing our intelligence, claiming spread of misery justifies the confiscation of our rights to property, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. We claim the responsibility to justly live our lives, whether that means we reap the benefits of success, or learn from our own failures. And to take such fundamental, god given gifts away is the greatest form of evil one can partake of in this world. You are the demon, you are the unjust, you are the filth of this world that you claim has wreaked havoc upon our great nation. If you cannot accept that our ability to prosper or fail in our own hard work or to our own demise, then you are not worthy of being our SERVANT.

The bottom line in this whole health care debate isn’t the costs, isn’t the unending wealth destruction, isn’t everyone needs insurance. It’s the encroachment on our freedoms and way of life. No one is ever denied care, they are denied insurance coverage. People are not dying in the streets, they are going bankrupt because our servants don’t have the balls to enact real reform on lawyers and insurance laws. Bankruptcy is ugly, but it is a necessity. We cannot allow them to claim that they want to protect us from ourselves. We can always go bankrupt, but we cannot bring the dead back to life.

UPDATE:Possible motive for this pay to play? Not my Idea but good observation from Jane Hamsher [FDL ewww]

During the campaign, this was Obama’s position:

Obama will allow Americans to buy their medicines from other developed countries if the drugs are safe and prices are lower outside the U.S. Obama will also repeal the ban that prevents the government from negotiating with drug companies, which could result in savings as high as $30 billion.

But, let’s do the math. In ten years, $30 billion a year would mean $300 billion in savings. The deal cut by the White House is for $80 billion in savings. So the pharmaceutical industry gets to keep $220 billion for the low low price of $150 million in August to pass health care reform so Rahm Emanual won’t be 13-1.

EDIT: The idea is good, but I the numbers sound off. PhRMA doesnt get any money if Obama brings it overseas. the 80 Billion is PhRMA’s premium to keep the business over here, so its either $0 or take an 80 Billion dollar hit on their normal capital.
A new memo leaked from a inside out lobbyist, apparently there is a such thing as outside lobbyist so why not inside out?

HuffingPost:
It says the White House agreed to oppose any congressional efforts to use the government’s leverage to bargain for lower drug prices or import drugs from Canada — and also agreed not to pursue Medicare rebates or shift some drugs from Medicare Part B to Medicare Part D, which would cost Big Pharma billions in reduced reimbursements.

Could this be why the drug companies have been so relevantly quiet about being opposed to healthcare? Don’t need to oppose something if you are the first pig to the trough. If they end up not getting their way they will have enough time to launch an opposition campaign, thanks to the American people, to destroy this. Or maybe they are just afraid of this Administration, or in bed with it?

Just follow the money folks follow the money.

In exchange, the Pharmaceutical Researchers and Manufacturers Association (PhRMA) agreed to cut $80 billion in projected costs to taxpayers and senior citizens over ten years. Or, as the memo says: “Commitment of up to $80 billion, but not more than $80 billion.”

Representatives from both the White House and PhRMA, shown the outline, adamantly denied that it reflected reality. PhRMA senior vice president Ken Johnson said that the outline “is simply not accurate.” “This memo isn’t accurate and does not reflect the agreement with the drug companies,” said White House spokesman Reid Cherlin…

So there is an agreement with the drug companies according to Reid Cherlin. But 80 Billion isn’t accurate? is it $80,097,340,239? that more accurate for you? What a broad generalization…

PhRMA’s Johnson cast doubts on the provenance of the outline. “The memo, as described, is simply not accurate,” he said in a statement. “Anyone could have written it. Unless it comes from our board of directors, it’s not worth the paper it’s written on. Clearly, someone is trying to short circuit our efforts to try and make health care reform a reality this year. That’s not going to happen. Too much is at stake for both patients and the U.S. economy. Our new ads supporting health care reform are starting this week, and we are redoubling our efforts to drive awareness of why this issue is so important to America’s future.”

Johnson added that “no outside lobbyists — not a single one — were ever involved in our discussions with the Senate Finance Committee or the White House so someone is blowing smoke.”

Is there a difference between outside and inside lobbyists? All this time I thought there was only one kind of lobbyist, or maybe they are all just inside out freaks. Lobbyists are the flies and maggots you get when you leave raw meat out. Special interest breeds this kind of corruption.

Obama’s has been losing his stronghold on the health care debate now with polls showing “strong” opposition from independent voters has reached a majority. (51%) Intensity of support for the bill has been dwindling and is now overshadowed by passionate Americans attending the town halls. Rasmussen Poll:

Public support for the health care reform plan proposed by President Obama and congressional Democrats has fallen to a new low as just 42% of U.S. voters now favor the plan. That’s down five points from two weeks ago and down eight points from six weeks ago.

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey shows that opposition to the plan has increased to 53%, up nine points since late June.

More significantly, 44% of voters strongly oppose the health care reform effort versus 26% who strongly favor it. Intensity has been stronger among opponents of the plan since the debate began.

The republicans seem to have a strong line against this health care reform, with groups offering more practical reform. Some dems are against the bill because it doesn’t encroach on our freedoms enough. And Obama cannot even lie well enough about his support for a single payer system. We know we have the best health care in the world, and anyone that is determined to change that will not be able to blind side the American people.

With propopents of health care comparing it to how well Social Security, Medicare, Medicade and I’ve heard the DMV from a few, and now the Post Office?! It’s no wonder the plan is polling so poorly. via Philip Klein:

[A]t another point of today’s town hall meeting, Obama was pushing back against the idea that the creation of a new government-run plan would drive private insurers out of business, and he said that UPS and FedEx were doing fine, but “it’s the post office that’s always having problems.” Oops!

The gaffe arose from the inherent contradiction of those arguing for the introduction of a government government-run plan. On the one hand, Obama and other supporters of the idea argue that we need to have a strong government plan to create more efficiency, drive down prices, and “keep private insurers honest.” Yet at the same time, they have to make it appear weaker to push back against those of us who argue that it will threaten private insurance and move us toward a single-payer system. So then you get statements in which Obama, in the course of arguing for a government-run system, takes a shot at the government-run post office.

Keep on digging, dems, here’s a shovel.

There is a great misconception that the right is against reform. That we don’t want everyone to have insurance. While we don’t want everyone to have government insurance, we want everyone to have the freedom to choose their own insurance. Arm yourselves with these ideas, and fight the monopoly the left claims to have on sympathy.

Tort [french for "wrong"] costs has gone out of control in the US in the last 50 years. Tort skyrocketed the cost of malpractice insurance, and forces doctors to practice defensive medicine to avoid getting sued. It’s hard for the left to swallow because so many of them are lawyers or even get lobbied by lawyers to not enact tort reform.

From the Pacific Research Institute:

direct U.S. tort costs were $261 billion in 2005, which translates into $880 per person.2 In contrast,
costs were only $96 per person in 1950, adjusted for inflation.

Less than 15 cents of every
tort-cost dollar goes to
compensating injured people.

Tort lawsuits need to be reformed to limit the compensation of those that have been wronged but still deter malpractice. It can be done, as many states have shown us.

And here’s more on free choice, elimination of government mandates, Health Savings Accounts, price disclosure, and interstate insurance reform.

From Health Care Freedom Coalition:

Free Choice of Doctors, Hospitals, and Health Plans
Any health care reform proposal must allow all Americans to choose their own doctor, hospital, and health plan. Furthermore, no reform proposal should coerce any American into buying a health plan designed by the government or be required to join a government-created, government-funded, or government-run purchasing pool or connector where the government selects health benefits and plans from which to choose.

Health Savings Account Option for All Americans
Health Savings Accounts (HSAs) are the only health plan that allows free choice of doctors and hospitals while providing incentives to reduce health care spending. Therefore, HSAs must be an option for all Americans, including those who are beneficiaries of government health care programs, such as Medicaid and Medicare. Any regulations or obstacles to making HSAs an option for Medicare and Medicaid beneficiaries must be removed to meet this goal.

Tax Fairness and Simplification for All Americans

The current tax break for health insurance is discriminatory, unfair, and, quite frankly, a mess. Employer-provided health insurance is tax free from income and payroll taxes. Self-employed individuals get to deduct the cost of their premiums from income. And, consumers who buy their own policy get no tax break. Workers who are displaced from a job due to a trade agreement get a 65 percent tax credit under the Health Care Tax Credit (HCTC). This mess cannot continue.

We believe the tax break for health insurance needs to be fair, nondiscriminatory, and apply to all Americans whether they get their health insurance from their employer or not.
[The X Note: We are for tax repeal but tax breaks are a step in the right direction]

Affordable Health Insurance for Small Business

Fewer and fewer small employers are providing health insurance because of the cost. The cost of health insurance is especially painful for tiny employers who employ fewer than 10 employees. Benefit mandates and regulatory mandates, such as HIPAA’s guaranteed issue mandate on small employers, apply to state-regulated, fully insured plans. Large employers who self-insure under ERISA escape all the benefit mandates at the state level and have more flexibility in designing a health care plan for their employees.

Small employers should be allowed to join together across state lines and have the same flexibility that large employers enjoy.

Buying Health Insurance Across State Lines

Individuals who buy their own health insurance plan and many small employers are limited in the type of health insurance that they can buy. Most are forced to buy insurance in their state that contains all the benefit mandates and benefit regulations imposed on them by state legislators. Families in Minnesota are forced to buy a health plan that contains 62 mandates, while families in Idaho can buy a plan with 13 mandates. In New Jersey, a family HMO costs $1,652 per month, while a family can buy a HMO plan in Pennsylvania for $707 per month!

The Constitution permits interstate commerce, so American families should be allowed to buy health insurance that meets their health care needs and should be allowed to buy insurance from other states. If a family in Idaho wants to buy a health care plan with all of Minnesota’s 63 mandates, they should have the choice to buy. If a family in Minnesota wants to buy a health care plan with Idaho’s 13 mandates, they should have that choice.

Health Care Price Disclosure

Since the creation of HSAs, more than 6 million Americans have chosen them for their health care needs. While more Americans will continue to choose HSAs, it is important for America’s families to know the cost of health care. Hospitals mark up their prices dramatically – some more than 500 percent – so it is important for an open health care system for shoppers to know the cost of the care that is being provided.

Hospitals and doctors should be encouraged as a condition of accepting Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement to publish their cost to provide the care. They should also publish the reimbursement schedule from various payers, including Medicare and insurance companies, so consumers will be better educated.

High Risk Pools for People who are Sick

Thirty-three states have high risk pools that provide health insurance to people who are sick and can’t get health insurance. This population represents a small portion of the country, but they should not be left out of America’s health care system because they are sick. Congress has historically provided federal dollars to encourage states to establish a high risk pool for people who are sick, and states have taken advantage of these federal dollars.

Congress should continue to provide incentives for states to establish high risk pools so people who are sick can have access to affordable health insurance.
[The X Note: We are not for one state paying for another states affairs states should provide this at their own expense]

Convert DSH payments into Health Insurance Block Grants/Vouchers

The federal government provides nearly $20 billion dollars a year in disproportionate payments (DSH) to hospitals that treat people who don’t have health insurance. Considerable evidence exists that hospitals actually collect and profit from uninsured patients. DSH payments should be sent to the states in the form of health care block grants. States would be required to use those DSH payments to provide vouchers for private health insurance for the uninsured.
[The X Note: I am not for one state paying for another's affairs again, states should do this along with charity]

Nonprofit Alternatives to Health Insurance
More than a hundred thousand Americans choose not to buy health insurance because they belong to nonprofit, faith-based organizations that share each other’s health care costs. These Americans should be allowed to continue this alternative way to access our nation’s health care system and should not be coerced into buying health insurance.

More Competition Between Facilities
Consolidation and mergers of hospitals has led to actual or near-monopoly conditions in many communities in the United States. Monopoly always leads to excessive prices, poor quality, and lack of innovation. The biggest obstacle to increasing innovation and competition are the Certificate of Need laws that are still in effect in most states. These laws are 1970s style regulations that allow existing facilities to block the establishment of new competitors. They should be repealed.

No Mandates

According to the Council for Affordable Health Insurance, state lawmakers have enacted more than 1,900 benefit mandates on consumers. The federal government has enacted three mandated benefits on consumers. In addition, states and the federal government have imposed guaranteed issue coverage mandates and price control mandates (community rating) on American workers and small employers.

We challenge Congress and state legislators to impose a five-year mandate free zone on Americans beginning in 2008 and running through 2013.

No Government Price Controls
The Federal government should not expand its practice of setting prices in our health care system. Price Controls distort the marketplace causing perverse incentives and cost shifting.

No Basic Benefit Packages or Actuarial Equivalent
Federal and state legislators should not impose a health insurance benefit package on Americans nor should they require consumers to buy a health insurance plan that is equivalent in value to an existing health insurance plan.

No Health Care GSEs
The federal or state government should not become or create government sponsored enterprises for health care that act as reinsurance programs. Private reinsurance companies provide insolvency protection and important health care services, such as chronic care management, to people who are sick.

Why is it so hard for the dems to see this? Why do they continuously ignore us again, and again, and again?

Loretta Sanchez hardly has the record of being a Roman Catholic like her wikipedia page says:

She voted against a constitutional ban on same-sex marriage and supports abortion rights. She also sought to reverse the ban on abortions at overseas military bases and installations. In August 2000, Sanchez refused to relocate a political fundraiser she had planned at the Playboy Mansion in California. As a result, Democratic National Committee chairman Joe Andrew cancelled her scheduled speaking role at the Democratic National Convention. Sanchez’s address was reinstated just before the convention, when she agreed to relocate her fundraiser to Universal Studios.

So why on earth would she hold her town hall meeting in a Church of all places? What happened to your definition of seperation of church and state? Or is this just you attempt to silence the reverent people of Orange County California? The left scream in favor of a woman’s right to choose, they call their opposition gay bashers and wife beaters. Sanchez attempted to have her elitist friends over at the playboy mansion for crying out loud! But when it comes down to it the American people are conservative and dems try to pass themselves off as so, because conservatives win elections.
